The debut UNIFORME shirt collection is cut and sewn in NYC. The shirts are made up of Giza 45 oxford cloth woven by renowned Swiss shirting mill Alumo.
GIZA 45 COTTON
Giza 45 cotton is the highest quality of Egyptian cotton.
Egyptian cotton has long been recognized as synonymous with quality. Giza cotton is grown along the Nile River, prized land for its ideal conditions for growing high quality, long staple cottons. The fibers are harvested by hand to insure that the cotton is harvested at the peak of growth and to avoid the damage that machine blades cause to the fibers. The cotton is then hand combed and sorted through to control the quality of the fibers, which are then graded according to length, diameter, uniformity and strength.
Based on these measurements, the fibers are then classified into 6 classes of long staple (Giza 86, 89 and 90) and extra-long staple (Giza 87, 88, 45) cotton.
Giza 45 is the finest grade in the classification system. As a result, it creates an incredibly durable, lustrous and silky fiber. Due to the high quality, the labor involved as well as the limited availability (Giza 45 cotton makes up 0.4% of annual Egyptian cotton output), raw Giza 45 cotton fiber is priced about five times the average cost of Egyptian cotton.
